Reclaimed wood accents, such as shipping pallets, are a popular choice for adding a shabby chic or rustic charm to weddings. These affordable and easy-to-find materials can be used in a variety of ways to create a unique and stylish atmosphere for your big day.
Some ideas for using wood pallets at your wedding include creating a ceremony backdrop, making wedding signs, using them as tables, setting up a food and drinks bar, and hanging flower chandeliers. The possibilities are endless! If you’re looking for more inspiration, take a look at our gallery of 35 favorite uses for wood pallets. Whether you want a rustic chic or a more traditional wedding, wood pallets can help you create the perfect look and atmosphere.
Rustic Pallet Seating Chart
When you think about it, pallets are incredibly versatile. They can be used for anything from making a rustic seating chart to creating a place to store your keys and mail. Here are some of our favorite ways to use pallets at your wedding:
- Seating Chart: You can easily make an adorable rustic seating chart by painting the top of a pallet white or gray, then gluing pictures of family members onto it. For example, if you want guests to know where they will sit during dinner or dessert, simply write down their names and attach them with staples or magnets.
- Table Sign: A simple way to set up tables is by attaching signs onto long pieces of wood that indicate where each table should be placed (e.g., “Table 2”). This way, even if guests arrive early and see other people already sitting at their destination table—or worse yet–if someone mistakes another table for theirs—it’ll still be easy for everyone involved!
Rustic Pallet Menu Sign
If you’re interested in using a rustic pallet for your wedding ceremony or reception, then it’s important to think about how you can use the wood to create a unique focal point. You might think that a menu sign would be too simple, but with some effort and creativity, you can make one that fits right into your wedding theme.
You will need to cut the pallet wood into small pieces so that it is sized appropriately for displaying food items on top of it. You can use a saw or even an electric handsaw if needed; just make sure not to cut yourself while doing this! Once all of the pieces are cut down, hammering nails into each piece will hold them together while leaving room for hanging items off of them such as napkins and utensils (if necessary).
Rustic Pallet Wedding Programs
Another great way to use pallets is in your wedding programs. A rustic wedding program will set the tone for your event and give guests a sneak peek at what’s in store for them at the reception. You can make these yourself by using an old pallet and some of our favorite tips from our DIY Rustic Pallet Pamphlet Holder tutorial.
Rustic Pallet Table Numbers
Table numbers are a great way to add a rustic feel to your wedding. Ordering custom table numbers can be expensive, but you can make them yourself with pallet wood! First, you will need to assemble your pallets into the shape of an “X”. Once they are in place, use a hammer and nails to secure each side of the “X” together at the top and bottom. Next, paint or stain your table number using whatever color scheme you choose for your wedding day. For example: If you have light gray chairs for all of your guests’ seating arrangements then use light gray paint or stain for this project instead of black like what is shown here today on camera over at YouTube channel Vloggers Studios (a subsidiary company owned by me).
Once all painting has been completed it’s now time for assembly! Use screws instead because they look better than nails when used as decorative elements on furniture pieces such as tables during special events like weddings where people want their decorations looking nice but not fancy enough that they cost too much money per item purchased from stores such as Target (which sells its own brand which may save consumers some money if purchased there instead).

- Dance floor: Create a rustic dance floor by placing pallets on the ground and adding a layer of plywood or other flat surface on top.
- Photo booth: Set up a photo booth using pallets as the backdrop. You could decorate the pallets with lights, flowers, or other decorative elements to create a fun and memorable space for guests to take photos.
How To Prepare The Pallet Wood
Before you start to work with your pallet wood, you will need to make sure that it is in good condition. If you are working with a used pallet and can’t tell if it’s safe, inspect the wood thoroughly for splinters, cracks, or other signs of damage.
Once you have chosen the boards that are right for your project, remove all nails using a hammer and nail puller. You’ll also want to use a saw if needed (or even better—a chop saw) so that each board is uniform in length. After this point, sand each board down until smooth then paint or stain as desired!
