Driftwood weddings are a hit. They’re classy, elegant and timeless, so you will never be out of style. But driftwood weddings don’t have to be all about the beachy look either! You could get creative with your décor and use elements from nature in unexpected ways, like these 7 ideas I’ve compiled:
Driftwood arches for the ceremony
Driftwood can be used to make arches for your ceremony. These can be decorated with flowers and placed in front of a beach backdrop.
A lot of people have asked me how they can use driftwood at their weddings and I’ve found that there are many ways to incorporate it into your big day!
Driftwood chandeliers for reception venues
Driftwood chandeliers are a beautiful way to light up any reception venue. They are easy to make, and they can be used again and again.
- To create your driftwood chandelier, begin by collecting a large amount of driftwood pieces that have similar shapes and sizes (a few inches in length each).
- Next, choose the best looking piece in your collection and drill holes through it so that you can attach wires or fishing line at a later time.
- Take several pieces of wire or fishing line that are long enough for whatever space you have available in which to display the chandelier. Securely tie knots at both ends of this strand so that none of its strands come loose from one another when hung from their designated spot(s).
Driftwood bridal bouquets
Driftwood bouquets are a great way to incorporate the ocean into your wedding. It’s rustic, beachy and beautiful. You can make them in any color scheme, but we love the idea of a blue bouquet with white flowers and driftwood accents!
They’re also easy to make: all you need is some floral wire and strong floral tape. Start by wrapping the wire around a piece of driftwood until it forms a circle (this will be your base). Then add two more pieces of wire on either side of this one so that they form an X shape…
Driftwood centerpieces
Driftwood centerpieces are easy to make, but they are also easy to overdo. If you want your guests to think you spent hundreds of dollars on driftwood, then this is the way to go. For example, if you have a small piece of wood with a hole in it and a few smaller pieces that look like they’d fit perfectly in there—that’s great! But if all you have is an entire log (or two), it might be time for another idea. Try looking at other interpretations of driftwood design before deciding what will work best for your wedding style and space.
Driftwood table numbers
If you’ve got a few pieces of driftwood lying around, these rustic table numbers are a simple DIY project. You can leave them natural or paint them in any color to match your theme, then write the number on each one with a marker. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try carving the numbers into the wood—it’s pretty simple and will look great!
Driftwood seating arrangements signs
Driftwood seating arrangements signs are a great way to add a rustic touch to your wedding. They’re easy to make, too!
The first step is picking out the type of driftwood you want. You can choose from several types, but we recommend something that isn’t too soft or brittle so that it won’t break easily during transport or when guests sit on them. If you have access to fresh water, look for pieces with barnacles attached (they make great additions). If not, don’t worry—the barnacles won’t come off once they’re attached (they grow onto rocks).
Driftwood wedding cake toppers
Driftwood cake toppers are a great way to add some rustic flair to your wedding. It’s also a great way to reuse old driftwood that may have been sitting in your garage for years!
These are perfect for a beach wedding
Driftwood is a natural material that can be found on beaches, so it’s a great way to incorporate the feel of the beach into your wedding without having to pick sand out of your dress after the ceremony.
When you’re planning your wedding, you’ll want to consider what kind of decorations you want around the space where people will be eating and dancing—and if your venue has an ocean view like this one does, then adding driftwood as part of those decorations would only enhance those views even more!
